Apple’s iOS 17 Update: Your Pets Finally Have Their Own Album!

Apple iOS 17

Apple’s latest iOS 17 update brings with it a host of exciting features and improvements for iPhone users, including upgrades to the Photos app. One of the most delightful updates is the app’s newfound ability to recognize and categorize your beloved pets, now included in the “People & Pets” album.

According to a survey conducted by the Pew Research Center, a staggering 97% of pet owners consider their furry friends as part of the family, and Apple is fully on board with that sentiment. In fact, the company states that “cats and dogs … are part of your family too.” As a lifelong dog owner myself, I couldn’t agree more with this sentiment.

So, let’s dive into how you can tag your pets in this fantastic new “People & Pets” album.

Tagging Your Pets in the “People & Pets” Album

  1. Open your Photos app.
  2. Tap on Albums.
  3. Locate and tap on the People & Pets album.
  4. Select a photo featuring your adorable pet.
  5. Tap on Add name to enter your pet’s name.
  6. Tap on Next.

To ensure accuracy, your phone may prompt you to review the identified photos of your pet. After reviewing and confirming that they are indeed your furry companion, you can mark them as favorites by simply tapping the heart icon next to their picture. This will automatically place them at the top of the album, creating a convenient collection of all your beloved pet’s photos.

From now on, your iPhone with iOS 17 will recognize your pet and automatically add pictures of them to the “People & Pets” album. It’s like having your own personal paparazzi for your furry family member!

However, we must acknowledge that technology isn’t flawless, and there may be instances where your iPhone misidentifies your pet. Not to worry! Here’s how you can easily untag your pet from a photo:

  1. Open your Photos app.
  2. Tap on Albums.
  3. Find and select the People & Pets album.
  4. Locate the photo of your pet that has been misidentified.
  5. Simply long press on the misidentified photo.
  6. Finally, tap on This is Not [Your Pet’s Name].
Removing Misidentified Photos

By following these steps, the misidentified photos will be promptly removed from the album, leaving behind only the most adorable and accurate pictures of your pet.

The iOS 17 update has truly revolutionized the way we capture and cherish our memories, even extending its recognition capabilities to our four-legged family members. With the newly introduced “People & Pets” album, pet owners can now easily access and organize their pet’s photos, ensuring that no precious moments are ever lost or forgotten.
