Microsoft Unveils Two New Devices for Business Users
Microsoft recently held its Surface and AI event, where it announced several exciting products, including two devices specifically designed for business users. Although these devices didn’t take the stage during the live keynote, they certainly brought some innovative features to the workplace.
One of these new devices is the Surface Hub 3, the latest iteration of Microsoft’s workplace collaboration tool. Combining an interactive whiteboard with a virtual meeting platform, the Hub 3 is available in both 50-inch and 85-inch sizes. Running on Microsoft Teams, this innovation is designed to replace traditional televisions and monitors in conference rooms.
The Surface Hub 3 introduces a range of compelling features. Microsoft boasts improved CPU and GPU performance, various stands and wall-mounting options, active linking with two Surface Hub Pens, two microphone arrays and speaker pairings for intelligent audio, and a 4K PixelSense display with anti-glare coating. However, the standout innovation may be the 50-inch version’s smart rotation and portrait mode that adapts the screen to function as either a whiteboard or a video call interface depending on its orientation.
Another notable addition to the Hub 3 is Cloud IntelliFrame, which enhances remote meetings by allowing attendees to clearly see in-person users through a smart video feed. Backgrounds are removed, and video sizes are adjusted, seamlessly integrating remote and in-person participants.
In addition to the Surface Hub 3, Microsoft also unveiled the Surface 4 for Business, which is the brand’s smallest detachable two-in-one tablet and laptop. While the Surface 4 may look similar to its predecessor externally, it showcases significant internal upgrades.
The previous Surface 3 featured a dual-core Core i3-10100Y chip, but the Surface 4 now boasts a quad-core Intel N200 processor. Moreover, the RAM capacity has been doubled from 4GB to 8GB, and the storage can be expanded up to 256GB – twice the capacity of the previous generation.
Microsoft also emphasized the improved battery life, microphones, security, and repairability of the Surface 4. The last mentioned feature is especially appealing to workplaces striving to maximize the lifespan of their devices.
While pricing details were not shared during the announcement, Microsoft did confirm that both devices would be available through corporate channels starting from October 3.
