Google has officially unveiled its long-awaited Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro during the recent #MadeByGoogle ’23 keynote. The much-anticipated devices are set to launch on Thursday, Oct. 12, but are now available for preorder at various retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, the Google Store, and major phone carriers.

The Pixel 8 boasts a range of impressive features, including the Google Tensor G3 chip with AI capabilities, a 6.2-inch Actua display that is 42% brighter than its predecessor, and an extended battery life of up to 24 hours per charge. The main camera has also been upgraded, featuring a new ultrawide lens with Macro Focus mode for outstanding close-up shots.

Design-wise, the Pixel 8 sports rounded edges, satin metal finishes, and a polished glass back, making it slightly smaller than the previous model. It’s available in three vibrant colors — Obsidian, Rose, and Hazel — and starts at $699 for the 128GB storage option (configurable up to 256GB).

For those seeking even more advanced features, the Pixel 8 Pro offers an even brighter 6.7-inch Super Actua display, a new temperature sensor, a larger ultrawide lens, an additional telephoto lens, and a polished aluminum frame with a matte glass back. Pricing for the Pixel 8 Pro starts at $999 for the 128GB model (configurable up to a whopping 1TB), and it comes in three striking colors: Obsidian, Porcelain, and Bay.

Excitingly, both the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will receive software updates for the next seven years, including Android OS upgrades, security updates, and regular Feature Drops, as confirmed by Google in a blog post.
