If you survived the wild ride that was the GPU shortage, you might be tempted to snatch up a graphics card at its current price. But hold your horses! Nvidia might be on the verge of launching the RTX 40 Super refresh, and word on the street is that three new GPUs are set to hit the market next month. Brace yourselves, because the GPU landscape is about to get a major shake-up in terms of pricing.

Rumors have been swirling about the highly anticipated RTX 4070 Super, RTX 4070 Ti Super, and RTX 4080 Super. While Nvidia has remained tight-lipped on the matter, they are scheduled to hold a special keynote at CES 2024 on January 8. So, we may only have to wait three more weeks for the official confirmation. In the meantime, ITHome has taken a shot at predicting the release dates for these GPUs. Take this information with a grain of salt, though. Even if the dates don’t align perfectly, it’s likely that all three cards will hit the market in the first quarter of 2024.

According to the predictions, the first card to make its appearance will be the RTX 4070 Super, rumored to drop on January 17. Hot on its heels is the RTX 4070 Ti Super, slated for release on January 24. And the grand finale comes in the form of the RTX 4080 Super, expected to grace our screens on January 31.

Naturally, the exact specifications for these cards are still unconfirmed. Initially, there was talk of substantial upgrades for the RTX 4070 Super and RTX 4080 Super. However, it seems those whispers were nothing more than wishful thinking. According to VideoCardz, the RTX 4070 Super will sport 7,168 CUDA cores (compared to the 5,888 on the impressive RTX 4070) and retain the same 12GB memory configuration.

But hold your horses, because the most intriguing addition to the lineup is the RTX 4070 Ti Super. Rumor has it that this card will not only get a boost in VRAM but also switch to a different GPU altogether. The RTX 4070 Ti Super is said to feature the mighty AD103-275 GPU, a staggering 8,448 CUDA cores, and a whopping 16GB VRAM. That’s a significant leap from the 12GB found in the 4070 Ti. These specs put it in direct competition with the RTX 4080, leaving the RTX 4070 Ti in the dust.

Last but not least, we have the RTX 4080 Super. This bad boy gets an increase in core counts, maxing out the AD103 chip with an impressive 10,240 CUDA cores. It’s also rumored to retain the same 16GB VRAM as its predecessor. However, if these specs turn out to be accurate, it’s safe to say that the RTX 4080 Super offers only a modest upgrade over the existing RTX 4080. Maybe Nvidia will use this opportunity to fix the fact that the 4080 falls short in terms of value and grace us with a price adjustment this time around.

Now, the big question on everyone’s mind is whether these three new GPUs will become instant hits. The answer lies in the pricing. Nvidia is notorious for its cutthroat pricing strategy, so dreaming of massive discounts might be a stretch. However, it’s still worth holding off until the January 8 announcement. There’s a possibility that after the launch of the Super refresh, the older models will see some price cuts. And even if that doesn’t happen, you might be able to get something even better for the same or a similar price. The GPUs currently available shouldn’t experience a price surge, but they could witness a delightful drop. So, waiting until the new year really makes sense.

So, my fellow tech enthusiasts, buckle up and get ready for the GPU rollercoaster. Nvidia’s upcoming Super refresh promises to raise the bar and potentially reshape the entire GPU landscape. Will these new cards be as breathtaking as a fiery dragon in virtual reality or more mundane than a spreadsheet on a Monday morning? Only time will tell.

In the meantime, bookmark the date – January 8 – and set a reminder. Join us in patiently waiting for Nvidia’s keynote at CES 2024, where the truth about the RTX 40 Super refresh shall be revealed. Hang in there, folks!
