The Tecno Pova 6 Pro is not your ordinary smartphone. With its mad name, mad green color, and unhinged design, itās the craziest-looking phone announced at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024. But its uniqueness doesnāt stop there. This article will take you through the crazy features of the Tecno Pova 6 Pro, discuss its design, battery life, camera capabilities, and overall user experience. Hold on tight!
Tecnoās Crazy and Mad Design

Tecno is a brand that never fails to intrigue us. Although its devices are not available in the U.S., they have made quite an impression with their unique designs. From the Phantom X2 Pro with its unusual pop-out camera to the folding phones like the Phantom V Fold and Phantom V Flip, Tecno knows how to grab attention. The Tecno Pova 6 Pro may not be in the same league as those phones technically, but itās far from boring.
The Comet Green color of the Tecno Pova 6 Pro is eye-catching and unforgettable. But itās not just the color that sets it apart. The phone features mini-LEDs in its massive camera module, which activate during calls or notifications, and even sync with the popular game PUBG for added flashiness. While not as bright or customizable as the Nothing Phone 2ās Glyph lights, these mini-LEDs are still a cool addition. However, the back panel and chassis attract fingerprints easily, and the plastic material used cheapens the overall look of the phone.
One of the Biggest Batteries Weāve Seen

Despite its lower-midrange status, the Tecno Pova 6 Pro packs a whopping 6,000mAh battery, making it one of the biggest batteries weāve seen in a smartphone. The battery life is impressive, lasting for days with average use. It even comes with a 70-watt ENBLE charger that charges the phone quickly. The phoneās other specifications include a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, a MediaTek 6080 processor, and 12GB of RAM. The screenās automatic brightness mode, however, leaves much to be desired. Itās slow to react and prefers to stay dim, which can be quite frustrating.
Tecno has also updated its HiOS Android interface to provide a better user experience. With less bloatware, a cleaner design, and more speed, the HiOS interface is a significant improvement compared to previous Tecno phones. The Tecno Pova 6 Pro even has its own version of Appleās Dynamic Island called Dynamic Port 2.0, which adds a touch of style to the user interface.
A Camera with a Surprisingly Missing Feature

Letās talk about the camera. At first glance, the Tecno Pova 6 Pro seems to have three cameras on the back, including a 108-megapixel main camera. But hereās the surprise: thereās no wide-angle camera. While this may seem odd considering almost every phone released in recent years has a wide-angle lens, surprisingly, the absence of a wide-angle camera didnāt feel like a major drawback. In fact, the Pova 6 Proās status as a lower-midrange phone might have made a wide-angle camera just average anyway. So, Tecno decided to focus on the 108MP camera and added a fixed-focus 2MP camera and an āAI cameraā that collects ambient light.
The photo quality of the Pova 6 Pro is average at best, lacking stabilization and struggling to focus on closer objects. Low-light photos also tend to be noisy. On the bright side, the phone offers a dual video mode that shoots with both the front and rear cameras simultaneously and an edit mode that lets you change the skyās look in your photos. While the camera design may make it appear outstanding, itās a bit of a con, and itās crazy how much effort went into making it seem special.
Mad and Fun, but in Need of Refinement

The Tecno Pova 6 Pro is a phone that walks a fine line between madness and fun. Its funky design, improved software, and long-lasting battery make it stand out. It even offers an IP53 water and dust resistance rating along with Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio support. However, it does have its downsides. The phone attracts fingerprints easily, the camera is a bit of a mystery, and basic features like the fingerprint sensor and auto-brightness are slow and unreliable. Additionally, the lack of a permanent always-on display, which is a personal pet peeve, is disappointing.
Overall, the Tecno Pova 6 Pro has its charm, and much of it can be attributed to the improved software experience. Despite its flaws, it manages to be a solid companion once you get used to it. However, refinement is necessary, especially with the hit-and-miss fundamentals. It would also be great to see a Tecno phone with a more capable processor to enhance its performance. While itās a fun phone, it may not be for everyone, especially if you prioritize camera quality.
Remember, Tecno has other crazy products on display at MWC, including an AI robot dog and some wild concept materials. Itās clear that Tecno is not afraid to think outside the box and push the boundaries of smartphone design.
