Verizon Teams Up with NFL and YouTube to Bring NFL Sunday Ticket to Fans
Verizon, in collaboration with the NFL and YouTube, is making NFL Sunday Ticket more accessible to football fans. The wireless carrier recently announced that it would be offering the popular out-of-market football package at a discounted rate through its Plus Play content management platform. In addition, Verizon will be bundling in the upcoming NFL season for free for select new wireless and home internet subscribers.
Plus Play: Verizon’s Central Hub for Subscriptions and Streaming Services
Introduced last year, Plus Play is Verizon’s ambitious endeavor to become the go-to hub for managing various subscriptions and streaming services. With Plus Play, Verizon handles billing and has formed partnerships with major brands such as Disney Plus, HBO Max, Netflix, and Xbox. Users of Verizon can conveniently purchase these subscriptions on the Plus Play platform and enjoy exclusive discounts.
Verizon has had a longstanding partnership with the NFL, previously selling the NFL Plus service on Plus Play. The carrier has also offered YouTube TV subscriptions through its platform. Now, with YouTube taking over as the exclusive home of NFL Sunday Ticket starting this season, it comes as no surprise that Verizon has struck a new deal for its users.
How to Save on NFL Sunday Ticket with Verizon
Saving on NFL Sunday Ticket with Verizon can be a little complex, but the potential savings are substantial. The easiest and largest saving option is to switch to Verizon’s new Unlimited Plus plan, which comes at a slightly higher cost. By signing up for this plan and getting a new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 or Z Fold 5, Verizon offers a full year of Sunday Ticket for free. This represents a significant savings of $449 compared to the regular price that YouTube charges for Sunday Ticket (without the discounted YouTube TV subscription price). It is also $399 cheaper than the current price offered by YouTube (taking into account their ongoing $50 discount promotion until September 19).
The offer is not limited to Samsung devices. Other eligible phones for this offer include Google’s Pixel Fold, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Motorola’s Edge Plus, and Samsung’s Galaxy S23 line. Verizon has stated that this deal will also be available with the upcoming iPhone 14 line.
While this version of Sunday Ticket does not include the popular RedZone channel, subscribers have the option to add it for an additional $40. It’s important to note that Sunday Ticket does not offer YouTube TV proper, which is Google’s cable-like streaming service encompassing local channels for ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox.
Since NFL Sunday Ticket only streams games that are outside of your local television area, viewers may require a subscription to YouTube TV proper, priced at $73 per month, or access via an antenna, satellite, cable, or other streaming provider to watch NFL games airing on local CBS and Fox stations on Sunday afternoons – even if they have subscribed to Sunday Ticket.
Additional NFL Sunday Ticket Offers for Verizon Customers
Verizon is also extending offers to new home internet users. Those who sign up for Verizon’s higher-tier plans such as 5G Home Plus, LTE Home Plus, Fios 1 Gig, and Fios 2 Gig can take advantage of a free season of Sunday Ticket. Furthermore, Verizon customers residing in select cities like Pittsburgh, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C., can also receive “up to” $150 in Fanatics gift cards.
For Fios Gig subscribers, a $150 gift card awaits, while users opting for the 500Mbps or 300Mbps internet plans can receive $50 gift cards.
Existing wireless customers can get $100 off a Sunday Ticket subscription, but they will need to switch to Verizon’s new Unlimited Plus plan to be eligible. Similarly, existing Fios users can also enjoy a $100 discount. In both cases, subscribers will need to sign up for Sunday Ticket through Plus Play.
